Crossing the Inner Jordan
Joshua 3:11-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The ark goes ahead of Israel into the Jordan, carried by the priests; as the feet touch the waters, the river parts and all the people cross over on dry ground.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the ark as the I AM within me—the unwavering awareness that stands before every experience. When the priests of disciplined thought bear this ark into the Jordan of seeming limitation, the moment my attention allows the waters to touch my sense of self, the stream parts and I stand upon an heap of dry ground. The waters descended from above are my past worries, rising and then becoming still, revealing that change is not in the storm but in my recognition of the I AM in command. As I place my feet in the brim of the mental Jordan, I am not crossing to something new but proving that the ground I walk on is always dry when I trust the presence within. Adam and the cities of doubt recede; I cross right against Jericho, into a wider consciousness where all the people—my former identifications—pass over safely. The miracle is inner alignment: I AM here, and therefore I am free.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine your own I AM bearing the ark before you as you step into the Jordan of your thoughts. Assume, feel-it-real: 'I AM; I am crossing dry ground now' until certainty settles in.
