Biblical Context
Joshua 24:10–11 shows God delivering Israel from Balaam's curse and guiding them across the Jordan. It ends with victory over the nations as they enter Jericho’s vicinity.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville Goddard, this chapter is a map of consciousness rather than a geography lesson. Balaam's curse represents the habitual mental decree that you are at the mercy of fear, lack, or limitation. Yet the moment you refuse to hearken—"I will not listen to Balaam"—you bless yourself by aligning with the I AM, that fixed, present awareness. The crossing of the Jordan is the passage from one state of awareness to another. Jericho and the listed nations symbolize stubborn beliefs and conditions that seem to block progress; in truth you do not fight the world outside, you meet your next elevation within. When the text says God delivered them into their hand, it is your own realization dawning: you already possess the power to realize any desire as your inner state shifts. The victories are confirmations that your inner atmosphere governs outer events. By living from the I AM—feeling, believing, and assuming your desired state as now—you experience deliverance from old scripts and enter a land of seamless, creative action.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, silently affirming 'I AM that I AM, and I have already delivered all my obstacles into my hand.' Dwell in that feeling for a few breaths, and watch the outer events align to match the inner state.
