Inner Altar, Outer Alignment
Joshua 22:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 22 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage records the congregation asking what trespass is being committed by building an altar to turn away from following the LORD, warning that rebellion today invites His anger tomorrow.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your Bible is not history but a map of states of consciousness. When the 'congregation' reviews this act, you are being shown your own inner council that doubts fidelity to the I AM. The altar they erect is a symbol of a mind pretending to protect itself from the LORD by creating a separate altar of allegiance; in truth, such division is rebellion against the one Life within you. The 'iniquity of Peor' is the remembered impulse you hope to cleanse by avoiding present obedience, yet the plague remains as long as you permit a split in consciousness. The command 'you must turn away this day from following the LORD' is simply the pressure of fear trying to pull you from your I AM, forecasting a day when you will awaken to your own doubt and invite judgment of your own inner life. The remedy is simple: restore the consciousness of unity, revise every twinge of rebellion, and stand in the steadfastness of the I AM, here and now.
Practice This Now
Assume you are one with the I AM now. Revise any sense of inner rebellion as illusion and feel it real that your inner altar stands in loyal obedience to the Lord within.
