Inner Cities of Quiet Faith
Joshua 15:48-51 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joshua 15 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage lists eleven mountain cities and their villages in Judah, marking a settled, guarded landscape. The details emphasize place, community, and stewardship within the divine plan.
Neville's Inner Vision
Begin with the simple premise that the land of Joshua’s mountain towns is the map of your inner world. Each city—Shamir, Jattir, Socoh, Dannah, Kirjathsannah (Debir), Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim, Goshen, Holon, Giloh—is a state of consciousness you can visit and tend. The mountains point to higher faculties you choose to exercise; the villages are the daily habits, relationships, and duties through which you express care for life and one another. When you dwell in these inner places by imagination, you align with a Providence that guides your steps. You do not seek a distant kingdom; you awaken it within, as unity among your inner parts, as stewardship toward creation, and as a felt sense of the Kingdom of God here and now. By assuming, revising, and feeling-it-real that you inhabit this inner map, your outer circumstances reorganize to reflect your assumed state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes. Name the eleven inner towns as states of awareness (Shamir, Jattir, Socoh, Dannah, Kirjathsannah (Debir), Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim, Goshen, Holon, Giloh) and assume you already dwell there; feel the unity of your inner community until it colors your day.
