Awakening Through John 8:21-24
John 8:21-24 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read John 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jesus says he goes away, and his listeners will die in their sins unless they believe he is the I AM. He contrasts being from above with being from beneath, and asserts that belief in him is the condition for redemption.
Neville's Inner Vision
To hear John 8:21-24 in Neville’s key is to recognize that the Christ within is not a future event but the I AM that is already your waking awareness. The warning about dying in sins is not punishment; it is the natural result of identifying with a consciousness that is still defined by limitation. Jesus claims to be from above and declares you are from beneath; this is the inner distinction of states of mind, not geography. If you insist that your present persona is who you are, you remain bound to the world, and the higher state cannot come into daily life. But if you awake to the truth that I AM is your true self, you begin to reside in a higher level of consciousness where sins lose their grip and redemption becomes a felt actuality. Your sense of self is shifted from the old story to the living Presence that Jesus embodies. The moment you believe that the I AM is speaking in you, you die to the old self and rise in a new creation.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the Presence here and now.' Then revise a limiting belief by feeling your awareness already dwelling in a higher state, seeing your life through that I AM lens as real.
