John 6:70-71 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read John 6 in context

Scripture Focus

70Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
John 6:70-71

Biblical Context

Jesus affirms that he chose the twelve, yet one among them is described as a devil—Judas, the betrayer.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the twelve are not external actors but states of consciousness within you; the I AM chose twelve faculties to express itself in the world. The 'devil' is not an enemy outside but a belief or fear within that tests loyalty to your higher purpose. Judas’ betrayal becomes an inner movement that would fracture unity unless met with awareness. When you grasp that such appearances illuminate where you have not allowed the light of awareness to reign, you can reframe the scene: you are not battling others but aligning your inner faculties with the truth that you are the I AM. The outer drama serves as a rite of passage, offering a chance to practice faith, discipline, and forgiveness. By recognizing that all persons and events are projections of your consciousness, fear dissolves as you choose trust in the perfect unity of your inner state. Thus betrayal points you to deepen devotion to your inner vision and to the law of imagination that creates reality.

Practice This Now

Imagination act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I AM choosing every state of consciousness within me, including Judas as a symbol of fear I revise.' Then revise by silently affirming, 'No inner movement can betray the truth of my I AM; see Judas transformed into steadfast ally in my inner circle.'
