Read John 4 in context

Scripture Focus

25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
John 4:25-26

Biblical Context

The Samaritan woman speaks of a coming Messiah who will reveal all things. Jesus then declares that he is the one speaking to her.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this scene the outer meeting between a woman of Samaria and a traveler is a symbol of the inner state of consciousness. The woman's faith that a Messiah will disclose truth mirrors a mind prepared to receive the living Word. Yet the turning point is not the future arrival of a teacher, but the present assertion of the self as its own teacher. When Jesus says that he is the one speaking, he names the I AM that is always present in the awareness that asks and hears. The Messiah is not a distant figure on the horizon but the light of consciousness now looking out from within you. To grasp this, you must shift from waiting for revelation to assuming the state of revelation itself. Trust that the inner I AM is revealing all things to you in this moment; claim that you already know, already hear, and already are the truth you seek. With faith and a steady feeling of certainty, the inner Messiah becomes the present lord of your experience.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit quietly, declare that you are the I AM speaking to you now, and feel the disclosure arriving as present reality.
