Biblical Context
The chief priests and Pharisees worry that if Jesus continues to work miracles, people will believe in him, threatening their power and even Rome's response. Their fear reveals the ego clinging to identity and status.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the council is a state of consciousness that resists a larger life. The miracles upon which they fix their eyes are not distant events but possibilities stirring in your inner imagination. When you identify with the old self—the need for tradition, status, and control—you fear that belief in a greater You will erase your place and your sense of identity. The Romans appearing as external power are only the image of consequence in your mind, the future judgment of your ego. Neville's teaching turns the scene inside out: every outer drama is an inner movement of belief. The moment you allow the miracle to be true in your inner picture, you loosen the grip of the old kingdom and invite the Kingdom of God to govern. Do not seek to silence the miracles; instead, revise your inner narrative so that belief and wonder are already present here and now. When you acknowledge 'I am the I AM' witnessing this moment, the apparent threat dissolves, and your inner temple expands to accommodate a life that believes first and acts second.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, assume you are the I AM looking through the council's eyes, and declare, 'I am the belief that creates this moment; miracles are now.' Then feel the shift as you dwell in that realization for a full minute.
