Sanctify Your Inner Fast
Joel 1:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Joel 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Sanctify a fast, summon a solemn assembly, and gather every facet of your life to the house of the LORD, crying out to God.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville's light, this command reveals the inner discipline of the mind. Sanctify means to consecrate present thoughts, refusing the restless chatter and feeding the imagination with a single Godlike assumption: that you are spiritually whole now. The fast is not merely food; it is a mental fasting from doubt, fear, and competing desires - an unobserved loss of attention to anything but the I AM. The solemn assembly calls your inner faculties - the elders and inhabitants - to alignment; the elders are your higher perceiving states, the inhabitants the thoughts and memories that cling to you. The house of the LORD your God is your own consciousness, and crying unto the LORD is the living prayer addressed to your I AM. When you turn toward this inner temple, you worship by alignment, not by ritual alone, and repentance becomes a turning toward the certainty that the divine within you is already active.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state of sanctified mind; picture yourself gathered in your inner temple with your higher self and your thoughts united, and declare quietly, I AM, I am sanctified; feel this unity and hold it as real.
