Read Job 14 in context

Scripture Focus

20Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
21His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Job 14:20-21

Biblical Context

The passage expresses God’s sovereign control over life’s changes: outer events shift as inner states transform, and the old self may not recognize the honors or diminutions taking place within.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the inner view, Job 14:20-21 declares that the I AM—the sole ruler of your awareness—prevails over the old self. The line 'thou passest' is the passing of a limited identity; the 'countenance' you wear is changed by a new imagination, and the person named by habit is sent away by a higher state of consciousness. When you live from this I AM, the events you call 'sons'—your talents, honors, and outcomes—begin to appear not as distant miracles but as inner confirmations of your renewed state. The old man remains ignorant of them, because he measures life by the old memory; yet the inner faculties rise, some honored, some humbled, according to the necessaries of your renewed being. The stubborn belief in lack or failure dies as you remain aware that God, your awareness, is always the turning point of experience. You do not make them happen by force; you awaken to the truth that they have already occurred in the interior, which then manifests outwardly as your life.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling that the old self has passed away and you are already the honored state. Revise any memory of lack by affirming It is done; I am the I AM now and feel it real.
