Inner Council of Awareness

Job 1:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Job 1 in context

Scripture Focus

6Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
7And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Job 1:6-7

Biblical Context

In Job 1:6-7, a heavenly council gathers and a testing figure named Satan appears alongside the divine. God asks about his source, and the roaming 'earth' becomes a metaphor for the mind's restless wandering.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture the scene as an inner council of your mind. The 'sons of God' are the affirmations you entertain; the 'Satan' is the restless doubt roaming your mental streets. When the I AM speaks, it asks: which state of mind have you chosen to host today? Satan’s roaming does not seek to defeat you—it's a mind-storm that reveals where you still identify with lack or limitation. The earth before God is your field of experience; in Neville’s terms, that field responds to your inner decree. Providence and the Presence are the steady governor of your inner life, guiding you to see that every movement of mind is a signal to return to the truth you desire. The test is not about outer foes but about inner fidelity: can you remain loyal to the I AM as the source of all you perceive, even when thoughts shout contrary evidence? In such alignment, the outer shows up as the echo of the inner, and faith becomes the reality you live.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I AM the source of all I perceive.' If a wandering thought arises, revise it by affirming, 'I AM here, and this mind is God-ruled.'
