Wormwood as Inner State
Jeremiah 9:15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 9 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares that He will feed the people with wormwood and give them gall as a form of judgment, a bitter experience serving as discipline.
Neville's Inner Vision
From the Neville Goddard vantage, wormwood is not a catastrophe visiting you from outside, but a flavor of your inner state when you have forgotten your I AM. The 'feed them' and 'drink' are invitations to observe what you are accepting as real in consciousness. If you feel bitterness, you are simply projecting a wormwood state into your life. Yet you are not bound by it. By declaring I AM—the awareness that stands behind all experience—you begin to revise the scene. Choose a new assumption: I AM the presence of peace; I AM whole; I AM guided. Then feel it real: imagine the bitter drink transforming into a warm tea of gratitude, your body relaxing, your mind clear. In time, the outer scenes align to reflect the inner state; what looked like exile or punishment dissolves as your inner kingdom returns to order. This is spiritual discipline: the inner taste dictates the outer cup.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of I AM peaceful presence now. Revise the bitter taste by imagining it turning to gratitude as you declare I AM.
