Biblical Context
Jeremiah 51:34-35 laments being devoured, crushed, and emptied by Babylon, a conqueror that casts the speaker out. The verses frame the violence as a judgment on the enemy and a collective cry of exile.
Neville's Inner Vision
Read through the inner lens, and the scene becomes a symbol of a state of consciousness rather than a geographic event. Babylon is the image the mind has given power to when fear, blame, and scarcity grab the attention. To be devoured and made an empty vessel is simply the felt experience of identifying with lack and danger. The I AM, however, is the constant awareness behind every scene; the I AM does not waver, and thus the outer oppression cannot truly wound it. The lines about violence and blood reveal the habit of making guilt real by naming others responsible for our pain. When you return to the I AM, you revise the story: the external image remains, but its power collapses the moment you recognize you are the observer, not the observed. Your true self, the I AM, fills the vessel with life and light. In that shift, exile ends, and a restoration of wholeness occurs within your own consciousness.
Practice This Now
Assume the role of the I AM and revise the scene: Babylon cannot devour you; you are the unchanging I AM. Breathe into that awareness and feel the inner fullness returning as you affirm I AM that I AM.
