The verse states that the people have not humbled themselves, nor feared God, and have not walked in the law or statutes set before them.
Neville's Inner Vision
To view this text through Neville's lens, 'not humbled' becomes a state of consciousness that resists the I AM’s authority, choosing ego over divine order. The 'law' and 'statutes' are not external rules but inner disciplines—the daily decisions of faithfulness, humility, and obedience to the divine idea within you. When you believe you can dictate terms apart from this inner law, you live as if the covenant has no power, and your true Self remains distant. Yet the I AM within you is constant, unfearing, and its law is harmony made tangible. Jeremiah's contrast invites you to turn inward and revise your stance: assume that you are already living in obedience to the inner law, and feel that obedience as a present, experiential reality. Practice imagining your mind aligned with this law now, letting humility soften resistance and realign desire with divine purpose. In this revision, outer “conditions” fall into line as reflections of the renewed inner state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the I AM within governs your life; say, 'I am governed by the inner law now.' Feel the humble, obedient mood as your present reality, and watch conditions adjust to reflect this inner covenant.
