Inner Call Amid Outer Denial
Jeremiah 43:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 43 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah finishes delivering God's words to the people; leaders respond with denial and accusation, claiming the message is false, and blaming Baruch for steering them toward exile in Babylon.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jeremiah’s charge is not a history lesson but a psychic scene. The words of the LORD your God are not 'out there' but reverberations of your I AM. When Azariah, Johanan, and the proud men cry, 'Thou speakest falsely,' they are inner states resisting the next level of you, clinging to the familiar Egypt of fear rather than stepping into the current that leads to Babylon—the symbolic land of transformation. Baruch, the scribe, who 'settest thee on against us,' represents the inner witness who writes the moving script of your life; his action is not against you but the instrument by which you are carried toward a new state. The scene 'Go not into Egypt' can be heard as a directive of your I AM: do not dwell in old bondage thoughts; do not seek safety in stagnation. The Lord’s words, delivered through Jeremiah, become your own decisive imaginal act. Accepting the inner commission dissolves the fear that would exile you from your own highest state. In that moment you are not commanded by men; you are led by God within.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM; I am not going into Egypt.' Revise the outer scene to reflect inner return, then feel the new state as already real.
