Return to the Inner Ground
Jeremiah 4:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God calls Israel to return to Him, to put away the idols and false ways, so that truth, justice, and righteousness may reign. The passage urges breaking up the mind's fallow ground and circumcising the heart to avoid wrath and to invite blessing.
Neville's Inner Vision
Jeremiah speaks to my inner life. When I return to the LORD within, I am reclaiming the I AM that I am. The 'abominations' are the thoughts I have mistaken for reality—habits of fear, lack, and separation. To 'break up your fallow ground' is to clear the mind of sterile patterns, to refuse to sow seeds among the thorns of doubt. 'Circumcise yourselves to the LORD' speaks not of outward rites but of pruning away the false identifications that hide my unity with God. If I cling to the old beliefs, divine fire—inner resistance—burns; if I yield to truth, the fire becomes a purifying light that reveals righteousness. The line 'the nations shall bless themselves in him' becomes a mirror of my own life: as I stand in truth, my world reflects that inner order. So the call to repentance is a call to awaken, to assume the state of the Lord within, and to live from that state here and now.
Practice This Now
Assume the state: I am returned to the LORD within; my heart is circumcised and my ground is prepared. Now close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and feel the I AM filling you, planting seeds of truth that sprout as your outer life aligns.
