Inner Choice, Outer Consequences
Jeremiah 38:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse warns that refusing the king of Babylon's summons results in the city being handed over and burned. It signals accountability for choices and the consequences that follow.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Neville's lens, this scene is not about a ruined city in a distant land, but about the condition of your own consciousness. The 'city' you fear losing is your present state of being; the 'king of Babylon's princes' are the inner authorities—habits, doubts, and a resistance to the new state you desire. If you resist going forth to the command of these inner princes, the city is handed over to circumstance, 'burned' by the fire of fear and limitation, and you become trapped in the old story, unable to escape the limitation of your current imagination. Yet the verse also holds a path: when you consent to the inner command—when you go forth in alignment with the higher I AM—you're not subject to the old forecast. Your state of consciousness re-creates the scene; you can revise it by assuming the new state now, feeling its reality, and acting from the certainty of the desired outcome. The moment you revise the scene from within, the 'burning' ceases to threaten because you are no longer living under the old assumption.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare, 'I go forth now to the inner authority that governs my life.' Then feel the relief and certainty of alignment, imagining the city around you steadied as you comply with the higher command.
