Jeremiah 34:22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 34 in context

Scripture Focus

22Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without an inhabitant.
Jeremiah 34:22

Biblical Context

Jeremiah 34:22 speaks of God commanding a return to the city; then the people fight, seize, and burn it, leaving the cities of Judah a desolation.

Neville's Inner Vision

Let this verse be read as a scene inside your own consciousness. The city is the state of awareness you inhabit—the I AM you are. When God commands the return, He is the command of your I AM to revisit a former state of consciousness. The fighting, the taking, the burning are the inner movements by which you confront the beliefs that have kept you in lack, fear, or limitation. Desolation follows when those old structures are burned away, a quiet emptiness that precedes new creation. The prophecy promises a purge of the old order so that a realer, more sustained life can arise. If you stand in the now and accept the command as true, you do not resist the process; you permit the inner events to unfold as a deliberate act of imagination. The command is not external punishment but the inward motion of awareness reclaiming its throne. Remember: the entire drama is an inner one, and your feeling of victory precedes any outward change.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Quietly assume that the inner city has returned to sovereignty under I AM; envision the walls dissolving as old fears burn away, and feel the new, confident awareness settling in.
