God says the people refused to listen to the words of His servants, sent to them early and often. They did not hearken.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider that the 'God' who speaks here is the I AM within you—the one awareness that never sleeps. The prophets are the inner voices, the faculties of imagination and discernment God has sent to remind you of your native authority. When the verse says they rose up early and sent them, it speaks of constant, steady callings: messages that arrive with the discipline of a waking dream, asking you to align with a higher state. To say you will not hearken is not punishment from above but a refusal to assume the state of listening in the present moment. Hear and heed by assuming you are already the listener and the speaker of your inner covenant. If resistance arises, revise: I hear and follow now. When you truly hearken, you align your thoughts, feelings, and actions with the message you already carry inside—a kingdom of consciousness made real by your awareness. The moment you decide, 'I will hear and follow,' you unleash the inner prophets and your world unfolds to match your inner state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine the inner voice speaking to you early in the morning. Respond with, 'I hear and I will follow now,' and feel the sense of immediate alignment inside.
