Jeremiah's Inner Fire Practice

Jeremiah 20:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 20 in context

Scripture Focus

7O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
Jeremiah 20:7-9

Biblical Context

Jeremiah laments that he feels deceived and mocked for speaking God's word, yet the inner message burns within him, driving him to speak despite derision. The outer turmoil mirrors the inner conflict between denial and the call to speak truth.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage you are called to see the events as inner states, not external facts. The deception and derision are the texture of a shifting consciousness, the old self resisting a new truth awakening within you. The 'word of the LORD' that becomes reproach is the pressing, living sense of I AM beginning to speak as you. That burning fire in the bones is the vivid conviction of a state you have chosen to inhabit—an inner Word demanding to be expressed through you. If you identify with the crowd or the rumor, you will feel weary and silenced; if you yield to the Word, it moves through you with certainty. The verse invites a shift from resistance to alignment: you are the awareness that both perceives and proclaims truth. External appearances shift when your inner condition stands firm as the I AM who speaks. Perseverance arises naturally when you know you are the source and vessel of that Word, and speaking in His name is simply the living manifestation of your inner life.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: sit quietly, relax, and affirm, I AM the Word within me now; the burning conviction moves through my bones, and I speak truth through the I AM operating as me.
