Biblical Context
The verse declares that in the society of Judah, hypocrisy and folly prevail; there is no real joy for the hypocritical, and mercy is withheld from the vulnerable, while God's anger remains active.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the reader, this text is not about distant rulers but about the state of your inner kingdom. The LORD, the I AM, is your awareness; when you feel there is no joy in your life, or you judge others while excusing your own failures, you are speaking as the hypocrite and evildoer the verse names. The 'fatherless and widows' are the neglected aspects of self—those parts you refuse to nurture or reveal. The phrase 'every mouth speaketh folly' becomes the constant chatter of conditioned thoughts, reciting old stories instead of truth. Yet the anger of the LORD, your inner discipline, is not turned away; the outstretched hand is the energy by which life presses you toward transformation. The invitation is to reverse the seen: assume the state of the I AM within, where mercy, justice, and holiness already reside. As you dwell there, you stop seeking mercy from without and begin embodying it from within; the outward world then follows as the natural expression of your inward state, beautifully reflecting your own inner alignment.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the state: 'I am the I AM now; mercy and justice are mine.' Feel the inner energy of compassion expanding, and revise any judgment by repeating, 'There is no one outside the I AM.' Do this for 5 minutes.
