Inner Covenant Of Salvation

Isaiah 59:16-21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 59 in context

Scripture Focus

16And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
17For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
19So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
20And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
21As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
Isaiah 59:16-21

Biblical Context

The passage describes a moment of human limitation where intercession seems absent, yet God delivers salvation through His arm; righteousness acts as protection, and a Redeemer and covenant are promised. It points to a present inner renewal to live.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of this as a description of your inner state. There is no other intercessor because you are the I AM made flesh in thought. When the world presses in, you do not plead with a distant power; you clothe yourself in the armor you are called to wear. Put on righteousness as a breastplate and a helmet of salvation upon your head; cloak yourself with zeal as a cloak. See the action of the Spirit lifting up a standard against the flood of fear and circumstance—an inward victory that becomes outward form. The Redeemer comes to Zion in you when you turn from old transgressions in Jacob; this is your moment of turning, not waiting for some future event. The covenant is declared now: My spirit is upon you, and my words are in your mouth, spoken through you forever. Rest in this truth, and watch life reorganize itself to reflect the state you have assumed.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume the feeling, I am salvation now. Visualize wearing righteousness as a breastplate and a helmet of salvation, and imagine the Spirit lifting a standard against any flood in your life, then declare inwardly that the Redeemer comes to Zion in you.
