The Inner Fast of Light
Isaiah 58:6-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 58 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah 58:6–9 presents a fast rooted in liberating action: undo the bands of wickedness, release burdens, and free the oppressed. When you live these deeds inwardly and outwardly, light and health rise in you.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville Goddard frame, the fast is a shift of consciousness, not a ritual to perform. To loose the bands of wickedness is to release stubborn beliefs that bind you; to undo heavy burdens is to revise the inner story you carry until lack and limitation disappear. Letting the oppressed go free is an inner decision to see all beings as images in your one I AM, for every perception arises from the same consciousness. The command to deal bread to the hungry and to clothe the naked becomes the outward expression of a generous inner state, the acknowledgment that your awareness provides for all forms through you. As you align with this, your light breaks forth like the morning and your health appears, for righteousness goes before you and the glory of the LORD stands as rereward, your preserved sense of guidance. When you call, the LORD answers in you; when you cry, you hear that there is a response within. This is the practical meaning of Here I am in your consciousness, ready to support your ascent.
Practice This Now
Assume the end of liberation now, and feel that you already release every burden and feed the hungry in your world through your awareness. Close your eyes, rest in the I AM, and revise any sense of lack by declaring that Here I am and I am free, until light rises within.
