Isaiah 53:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 53 in context

Scripture Focus

2For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Isaiah 53:2

Biblical Context

The passage speaks of a root rising from dry ground, unremarkable and unseen. Yet this growth signals an inner life ready to awaken.

Neville's Inner Vision

Before Him, the tender plant grows not by outward appearance but by inward realization. Isaiah bids you see a root rising from dry ground—unremarkable, unseen, yet alive with a hidden strength. The line 'no form nor comeliness' invites you to shift your gaze from surface beauty to the I AM that you are. Your true beauty is consciousness, not dress or form; growth comes from within, and it begins in the imagination. When you dwell in the assumption that your desired state is already present, you plant yourself in the soil of inner knowledge. The dry ground becomes the perfect proving ground for a new vitality; the life you seek is already sprouting in you, even if appearances remain barren. Suffering or trials are only the soil conditions through which the plant pushes toward light. The redemption promised is the inner awakening of your Imago Dei, your divine image, emerging as awareness expands. So you are not seeking to become; you are remembering who you are, and that memory births the stated reality in your mind.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and imagine a tender plant sprouting from barren soil in your mind. Repeat, with feeling, 'I AM the I AM, already this good,' and rest in the feeling of the wish fulfilled for 5–10 minutes.
