Inner Zion Remembrance

Isaiah 49:14-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 49 in context

Scripture Focus

14But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Isaiah 49:14-16

Biblical Context

Zion laments that the Lord has forsaken her. God answers that He has not forgotten her, for He has engraved her on the palms of His hands and her walls are continually before Him.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Isaiah’s inner sense, Zion is your present state of consciousness. The cry 'The Lord hath forsaken me' is the self pity of a mind attached to lack. Yet the truth of God is not a distant memory; God is the I AM that never leaves your screen of awareness. 'I will not forget thee' is the assurance that your state is preserved by Presence. The line 'Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands' announces that you are held by the God within—engraved in the very lifeline of consciousness. Your walls are continually before me becomes your psychological fortifications—habits, beliefs—that God sees as your living landscape. When you dwell in this, you revise the sense of abandonment by assuming the state of completion: you are seen, known, and remembered by the I AM. The memory of God is your own memory in operation; to feel it real is to turn away from fear and align with the consciousness that never forgets.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place a hand over your heart, and imagine God’s presence as an engraving on your palm. Say, I AM remembered by God, until you feel the sense of being continually seen.
