Biblical Context
The verse proclaims that those who make idols will be ashamed and confounded. Their idols lead to confusion.
Neville's Inner Vision
Read as a law of consciousness, Isaiah 45:16 reveals that the builders of idols in your mind are not outside beings but states of consciousness you have accepted as power. The moment you believe a shape or habit—money, status, fear, limitation—has authority over you, you have become the maker and the keeper of that idol. The verse says they shall be ashamed and confounded; this is not punishment but a logical occurrence in the inner economy: when you confront the truth that these idols originate in your own thinking, the old definitions lose their grip, and confusion dissolves. The I AM that you are does not worship idols; it simply observes them and in that observing, dissolves them. Therefore, turn your attention from the idol to the fact of your own awareness. Assume a new state of consciousness as the sole ruler: 'I am the I AM; there is only one Power within me.' Revise every claim of lack, fear, or limitation into that truth, and feel it real until the old image falls away, revealing true worship—unified, enlightened, free.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, name the idol in your mind, then declare: 'I am not this belief; I am the I AM that perceives.' Then in feeling, step into the state of fullness: 'There is only one power within me' and rest there for a few breaths.
