Exile as Inner Kingdom Awakening
Isaiah 39:6-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 39 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage foresees loss and exile, followed by Hezekiah’s recognition that the Lord’s word is true, offering peace and truth in his days despite upheaval.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the decree as stages of consciousness, not a historical timetable. The 'days to come' signal inner shifts: the house and what fathers stored are your established beliefs; Babylon’s captivity marks an exit from old identifications. The 'sons' taken away are the patterns you have repeated, the sense of self you mistake for life. The palace of the king of Babylon represents outward power you depend on for security. Yet Hezekiah’s statement—'Good is the word of the LORD … there shall be peace and truth in my days'—signals a breakthrough in awareness: the divine word is true here and now, making your days peaceful and truthful. Neville would urge you to revise lack by assuming you are already living in that inner kingdom. Let your imagination confirm you are governed by I AM, guided by Providence, regardless of appearances. The exile becomes a gift: you shed counterfeit self-concepts and awaken to the realm where you are one with God.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, recall the scene, and assume the inner state it points to: 'The Lord's word is true in this moment; I am the keeper of my consciousness.' Feel the peace and truth already within you and dwell there for a few minutes.
