Noonday Shadow, Inner Refuge
Isaiah 16:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage calls for prudent counsel and protective action: shelter the outcasts and do not expose the wanderer. It also foresees a turning of oppression as the community becomes a covert refuge.
Neville's Inner Vision
See Isaiah 16:3-4 as Neville Goddard teaches: the shadow is inner refuge for the outcast, and oppression ends by conscious assumption and compassionate love. You, as I AM, decide the inner environment; counsel and judgment become the shaping of your own states. Make thy shadow as the night in the noonday by imagining your light coordinating with darkness, so that the vulnerable parts of you are protected by your unshakable awareness. Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab—let the neglected facets of self cohabit with the dominant state you hold. Be thou a covert from the face of the spoiler: refuse to betray or expose any fragment of self; keep them safe from the tyrant of doubt. For the extortioner is at an end, the oppressors consumed, not by outer change but by your steadfast consciousness dissolving old patterns. The oppressive old self dissolves as you maintain a steady assumption of wholeness, compassion, and protection.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and assume the inner state of being the shelter for all parts of yourself. Say, 'I am the shelter and the shadow that protects every facet of my being,' and dwell there until it feels real.
