Biblical Context
Isaiah 13:10-11 speaks of cosmic darkness—the stars dim, the sun and moon lose their light—and of a judgment on wickedness. It also declares that the arrogance of the proud will cease.
Neville's Inner Vision
See this verse as a guide to the inward weather. The stars are your habitual thoughts; the sun and moon are the beliefs that color your perception. When you cling to pride and fear, light withdraws and the inner sky grows dim. The 'punishment' spoken of is not vengeance from without but the natural consequence of identifying with a limited self-image. In Neville's practice, you do not seek outward change; you revise your state by assuming the I AM as your constant awareness and feel it real. Imagine that the night signs are dissolving old identities, while your true essence, this centered awareness, remains unaffected. Let go of the need to prove yourself. As you dwell in the I AM, light returns; the mind's dusk gives way to clarity, and justice and harmony arise from within. When you acknowledge you are the perceiver, the outer world reflects your inner mood. Replace pride with the felt reality of your divine nature, and the outer night yields to inner dawn.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the state 'I AM' as the steady observer of all light. With each breath, revise pride into humility and feel the inner dawn returning.
