Biblical Context
Hosea 9:9–12 portrays Israel’s deep corruption and idol worship, foretelling judgment, exile, and loss. It warns that clinging to idols and past sins separates one from the life-giving presence.
Neville's Inner Vision
These verses are not mere history but a map of your inner state. 'They have deeply corrupted themselves' means a mind ruled by outer craving rather than the I AM. 'In the days of Gibeah' marks a memory of violence you still entertain as real. 'I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness' refers to life’s seed placed in a barren mind when imagination is not stewarded by truth. 'They went to Baalpeor' signals worship of substitutes for God—habit, fear, or pride—producing abominations as you love. 'Their abominations were according as they loved' shows you live in the form of your chosen loves. 'As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away' warns vitality departs when you forget your true identity; 'though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them' signals the moment the I AM withdraws from those thoughts. The cure is return: awaken to the I AM, refuse past identification, and practice imagining the end—the feeling of the wish fulfilled—as present reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and rest in the I AM; revise a lingering memory of guilt by stating, 'I am returning to my true nature now,' and see it dissolve. Let the feeling of the wish fulfilled flood your awareness for several minutes.
