Inner Vine of True Worship

Hosea 10:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hosea 10 in context

Scripture Focus

1Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
Hosea 10:1

Biblical Context

Hosea 10:1 describes Israel as an empty vine whose outward fruit serves self, producing many altars and images; the passage hints that true worship arises when inner life aligns with God rather than external forms.

Neville's Inner Vision

I read Hosea 10:1 as a parable of my inner life. The vine, though outwardly fruitful, bears fruit unto self—a egoic harvest that feeds images and altars rather than the living Presence, the I AM within. When I affirm I AM, I awaken to the truth that every result in life is a movement of consciousness, not a possession. The image of security or success becomes an idol when I mistake It for the source of life. The remedy is not conquest of the outer but a revision of the inner state: declare that the vine is full of divine life; my work, wealth, and beauty are fruits of the inner covenant with the Presence. As I dwell in the awareness of I AM, the altars dissolve, the images fade, and true worship—the conscious communion with the Presence—reigns.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes, declare 'I AM the Vine of God within me; my life and its fruits are the Presence expressing through me.' Then revise one outward image or goal as a symbol of inner Presence and feel that Presence now.
