Inner Maturity and Discernment

Hebrews 5:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Hebrews 5 in context

Scripture Focus

14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:14

Biblical Context

Hebrews 5:14 says mature folks are those who have trained their faculties by practice, enabling them to discern good from evil.

Neville's Inner Vision

I speak to you as one who knows that God is the I AM and that imagination is the instrument by which reality is fashioned. Strong meat belongs not to aged years but to a state of consciousness mature through use. When you consistently exercise your inner senses by using your imagination and observing your thoughts, you cultivate discernment between what nourishes and what harms. The discernment here is a spiritual verdict: you choose the thoughts and feelings that align with the I AM and let the rest fall away. You do not seek externals for truth; you become a craftsman of your inner life, feeding on the meat of conviction rather than the sugar of appearances. If you feel unsettled, revise your assumption to: I am already mature; I discern truth from illusion by the activity of my mind. Remain faithful to that assumption, and your inner senses will sharpen, revealing what aligns with your highest self and what does not.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and fix the feeling that you are already mature in discernment; repeatedly imagine counseling your mind to choose thoughts that align with the I AM, then act from that conviction.
