30And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
Genesis 43:29-30

Biblical Context

Joseph recognizes Benjamin and blesses him; he weeps in private, revealing a deep inner tenderness and longing for reunion.

Neville's Inner Vision

Joseph lifting his eyes to Benjamin embodies the moment when the inner self recognizes a long lost aspect. The younger brother stands for a cherished inner state you believed were separate from you; the question about him invites you to notice that this other part is indeed within your own consciousness. The blessing God be gracious unto thee is the I AM stating that grace is your natural condition, not a gift borrowed from without. The bowels yearn and the private chamber where he wept symbolize the soul withdrawing from outward drama to feel again the unity that only grace can reveal. When you keep this scene in imagination and hold fast to the sense of oneness, you no longer chase reconciliation; you permit it to occur as your awareness shifts. The emotional release is the signal that resistance has dissolved and your entire self is breathed into one compassionate, merciful life. In that inner union, you experience the same truth Joseph experiences externally: mercy and grace flow from the I AM to every part of you.

Practice This Now

Assume you are Joseph recognizing your inner Benjamin. Bless your inner self with grace and dwell in the feeling of reunion until it feels true.
