Biblical Context
Jacob comes to a field well where three flocks gather; a large stone covers the well's mouth, which is rolled away to water the sheep; he then asks where they come from.
Neville's Inner Vision
The well symbolizes your inner awareness, the three flocks your life’s streams seeking nourishment, and the stone a fixed belief blocking flow. When you align with your I AM and imagine rolling away the stone, waters of consciousness nourish the flocks of your thoughts, desires, and deeds. Jacob’s inquiry, Whence be ye, invites you to acknowledge your origin within your present consciousness rather than some distant place. Answering, Of Haran, places your source in a remembered field of experience, but in Neville’s sense this is a cue to claim your true origin in the inner country you inhabit—the I AM that you already are. The scene speaks of providence and unity: when you attend to the inner well, all parts of yourself converge and move in harmony, watered by the same living awareness. Your life is guided by a subtle, unified intelligence that flows when you simply dwell in the realization of your wholeness here and now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in imagination, roll away the stone from your inner well. Then assume you are already watering your life; spend 3 minutes feeling the waters nourishing every aspect of you.
