Inner Covenant and Deception

Genesis 27:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Genesis 27 in context

Scripture Focus

12My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.
Genesis 27:12

Biblical Context

Jacob fears that his disguise as Esau will be discovered by his father, and that Isaac will curse him instead of blessing him. The verse centers on a moment of anxiety about truth, loyalty, and the outcome of his action.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville Goddard, Genesis 27:12 speaks not of a boy’s trick but of a state of consciousness. The 'deceiver' is the old self-image that believes it must pretend to be loved; Isaac's blessing or curse reflects the inner verdict you pass upon yourself. When you fear being seen as deceitful, you are identifying with a separated self, and the imagined curse is simply the mental friction of that state. The remedy is clear: refuse to validate the old scene by fear, and inhabit the end you desire. Assume the blessing now, feel it as real in your chest and nerves, and let your I AM—your uninterrupted awareness—pronounce the blessing regardless of outward appearances. In this way, the outer event becomes a mirror of your inner state: peace replaces fear, blessing replaces curses, and loyalty to the truth of your Being becomes the actual experience you live.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Close your eyes and revise the scene by declaring, 'I AM that I AM; I am seen and blessed by my inner Father.' Feel the blessing as real in your body and linger there.
