Biblical Context
Abraham and Sarah are told Sarah will have a son despite their old age; Sarah laughs in disbelief, and God asks if anything is too hard for the Lord, promising Isaac at the appointed time.
Neville's Inner Vision
Isn't this scene really a study of the state you inhabit? The promise spoken to Abraham and Sarah is not a past event awaiting a future child, but a declaration of an inner I AM that calls forth a seen world from unseen essence. The laughter of Sarah reveals a mind identified with old age and limitation; it resists the instant birth of the dream. Yet the question 'Is anything too hard for the LORD?' reframes the moment as a shift in consciousness, not a waiting room of time. The time of life is the moment you decide to dwell in the awareness that the I AM is already present as you; when faith is not a creed but a felt state that you live from, the imagined future enters your present sense of self. Isaac's birth becomes a symbol that the covenant is active now, guiding you toward the moment you recognize Providence within your own awareness and act from its certainty.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling-state of the promise already fulfilled—see Sarah listening to the whispered word and feel the joy as if Isaac already born. Then revise any doubt by affirming 'Is anything too hard for the LORD in me?' and dwell in the feeling of completion.
