Biblical Context
God reaffirms the land promise to Abram. Abram asks for a sign and is given a ritual of offerings, followed by a deep sleep and a sense of darkness.
Neville's Inner Vision
I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur, and the land you inherit is the inner territory you awaken to as the I AM. The animals Abram offers symbolize the thoughts you surrender to establish a boundary between the old self and the new self you become aware of. The act of dividing the pieces stands for aligning your conflicting perceptions—you join them in consciousness and let your attention rest on the single life that you are. The birds that fail to divide represent disruptive fears that would eat away your peace; you drive them away with unwavering focus on the I AM. When the sun sets and a profound darkness overshadows Abram, this is not doom but the necessary clearing of old beliefs by which you enter the lucid state of your reality. The covenant appears as your present sense of being, the land you already inhabit within your own awareness, awaiting your recognition as done in consciousness.
Practice This Now
Practice: Sit quietly and declare, 'I am the LORD that brought me out; I now claim this land in my consciousness.' Feel it as real, and picture yourself driving away every worry as you dawn into your new inner state.
