Eye of God Upon Elders
Ezra 5:5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ezra 5 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Ezra 5:5 shows the eye of God resting on the elders, preventing them from ceasing work until the matter can be presented to the king, after which an answer comes.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the 'eye of their God' not as a distant judge, but as the awake I AM that gazes upon your inner activity. The elders symbolize your steadfast state of trust; while the world seeks to stop you, that eye keeps you from ceasing. Your petitions and delays are seen by the I AM as the patient unfolding of a plan within you. When the external matter travels to 'Darius'—the public opinion, the mind of appearances—your inner consciousness remains intact, for it cannot be coerced to stop by mere letters or reports. The divine watchfulness does not rush to change things; it preserves the faith that frames the change. So the moment you feel resistance, you must return to the assumption that your awareness is already acting on the situation, that the solution is being formed in quiet harmony, and that proof will arrive as correspondence from the world in due time. Persist in the inner decree until the outer letter reflects what you have assumed.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'The eye of God rests upon my work; I am unceasing, and the solution is formed within me.' Then feel the satisfaction of the outcome as though it is already present.
