Inner Purge of the Temple
Ezekiel 9:5-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ezekiel 9 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
It presents a directive to purge impurity from the inner city, starting with the sanctuary. It also says that only those bearing the mark are spared as the house is defiled and cleansed.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the city and the sanctuary are streams of your own awareness. Ezekiel's command is not about external dispatch; it is the inner instruction of consciousness: when a higher sight enters, it bids you walk the streets of your mind and slay the old, limited identifications—those old and young aspects that cling to fear, habit, and separation. The mark is the awareness of I AM, the living flame of your true self; to touch anyone not marked is to forget the divine approach. Begin at the sanctuary—your core sense of I AM—where habit imposes holiness and uncleanness. As you release and remove those stale patterns, you defile the old temple only to cleanse it, inviting life to fill the courts with truth. The outer world will reflect the purification you perform in consciousness, for your experience follows your inner state. This is the act of judgment not against others, but against your own errant beliefs; you proceed through your inner city until the house is purified and your life can go forth anew.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, take a breath, and assume the inner state: I AM purifies my temple; the old identity dies away. Feel this release ripple outward, and observe your life aligning with a cleaner, truer sense of self.
