Within this Ezekiel passage the prince is the I AM in you, the kingly center that sets the pace of your inner life. The holy portion is the sacred imagination you offer to God within; the city is the arena of your selfhood. The borders - westward and eastward - are the clear boundaries you establish in consciousness, not walls imposed by fate, but statements of what you will possess. When you refuse to widen your inner realm, you are contracting the length from west to east; when you consciously extend the line, your awareness covers your entire field. The length over against one portion shows that every aspect of your experience is mirrored in the central state of awareness you claim. Practically, you act as sovereign by affirming that the prince owns the land within you, and that the boundaries of your attention correspond to what you choose to acknowledge as real. Your imagination is the instrument by which you redraw the map of your life and inaugurate the kingdom of God within.
