Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage describes setting apart a holy portion of land for the sanctuary, with space for the priests, Levites, and a prince, and establishes borders to keep the sacred order.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of Ezekiel's map as an inner country, where the land to be divided is my own state of consciousness. The holy portion is the portion I consecrate to the I AM, the inner sanctuary where God dwells. The sanctuary and the most holy place are the focus of my attention—where I feel the sacred presence and align with it. The priests and Levites are the faculties of devotion and service within me; they must have dwelling places so I can minister to the LORD and so the LORD can minister to me. The prince—my ruling imagination—stands on the boundary, directing thought and action from a center that is already holy. When I appoint this holy portion and dwell there by assumption, the borders I draw become mental discipline, and the rest of the land yields its portion in due time. The outer world then reflects the inner order: no longer oppressive conditions, but a life that arises from a sanctified center. Practice this by a single act: declare I have established a holy portion in my mind where the I AM dwells, and feel that reality now. From that center, life aligns; I am free, orderly, and true to my inward sanctuary.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume: I have set apart a holy portion in my mind where God dwells; feel that center as real now, and let your next acts flow from it.
