Biblical Context
The verse describes finishing the inner house and then being brought to the east gate. The circumference around it represents establishing the boundaries of consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
We are told that after the inner house is measured, the guide leads the man toward the east-facing gate and measures it round about. In the language of soul, the inner house is your state of consciousness—the sanctuary within. Finishing the measuring is not geometry for its own sake but a discipline: you examine thoughts, beliefs, and desires until your inner space is clearly laid out in your mind. Then you are brought to the east gate, the boundary through which light enters and revelation comes. The gate toward the east is symbolic of dawning awareness; to stand before it is to recognize that your outer world is a reflection of the ordered state you have established inside. The act of measuring the circumference about the temple is the practice of keeping your attention within a defined circle of divine presence, so that what you see outside is but a projection of your inward state. Thus true worship is a life aligned with the I AM—your awareness—so that prophecy and promise unfold as your consciousness is settled and operative in the world.
Practice This Now
Assume you have completed the inner temple; imagine tracing the measured perimeter of your awareness and stepping through the east gate, feeling the light of the I AM.
