Inner Gates of Consciousness

Ezekiel 40:21-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ezekiel 40 in context

Scripture Focus

21And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
22And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
23And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
24After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.
25And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
26And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.
27And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.

Biblical Context

Ezekiel 40:21-27 describes a temple complex with symmetrical gates, chambers, and steps, outlining an inner path from outer thresholds to the inner court.

Neville's Inner Vision

From a Neville-tinged perspective, these measurements become the architecture of my inner life. The gates that face east and south are not stone doors but fixed attitudes of consciousness I choose to inhabit. The three chambers on each side show my sanctuary is built in threefold attention—desire, reverence, and faith—ordered by the first gate, the I AM presence I acknowledge. The seven steps to the gate are seven movements of feeling, seven planes of awareness guiding my mind toward Presence. The palm trees on the posts symbolize the vitality that blooms when worship is continuous. Stand before the inner court, and I recognize I am already within the holy of holies, for the God I seek is the I AM within. The north-south symmetry invites harmony of my opposite impulses, and covenant loyalty is kept by a steady, loving assumption that I am, here and now, the Temple of the Lord.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine standing before the inner gate toward the east. Revise your present moment by declaring 'I AM' and feel it real as you ascend the seven steps toward the inner temple of true worship.
