Inner Crown of Self-Deification
Ezekiel 28:1-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Ezekiel 28 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Ezekiel 28 exposes a ruler who proclaims godhood, lifting his heart in pride. The text reminds us that beneath such ego-worship, wealth and wisdom are only outward signs of a misidentified self.
Neville's Inner Vision
Ezekiel shows the 'prince of Tyre' boasting, 'I am a God'—an image of the ego's bid for the throne in the sea of mind. In Neville’s terms, this is a state of consciousness that has mistaken possession, wisdom, and fame for the actual divine self. The line 'thou art a man, and not God' is not a reversal of the divine, but a reminder that the ego-state is transient and limited, while the I AM is the constant awareness behind all images. When the mind identifies with that god-like posture, riches and cunning become its proof, yet they are only the outward signs of a belief. The true remedy is to awaken to the I AM that you already are, and to revise the ego’s declaration from 'I sit in the seat of God' to 'I am the I AM expressing as this form.' This revision dissolves the idol of self-worship, and the heart’s lift becomes humility before the unchanging consciousness. As you practice, you will find that wealth, wisdom, and even power shift in alignment with the one reality—your awareness.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine yourself as the I AM behind every thought. Revise the ego's claim 'I am a God' to 'I am the I AM expressing as this form' and feel a calm release settling in your chest.
