Inner Covenant Awakening

Ezekiel 20:5-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Ezekiel 20 in context

Scripture Focus

5And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
6In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
7Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
8But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
9But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
Ezekiel 20:5-9

Biblical Context

God recalls choosing Israel, delivering them from Egypt, and guiding them toward a land flowing with milk and honey. He asks them to shed the idols and abominations of Egypt; their rebellion stands, and He acts to keep His name holy in the sight of the nations.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your inner Israel is an awake I AM consciousness. The day God lifted His hand is the moment you become aware: I am the LORD your God. The promised land is not geography but a state of awareness—milk and honey representing nourishment and grace available in your mind when you align with the truth of who you are. The abominations of their eyes and the idols of Egypt are the stubborn beliefs, habits, and identifications you cling to apart from the One Life. When you feel the urge to worship something outside, you are resisting the revelation of your own divinity; your rebellion is a cry for security in illusion, a mood that must be dissolved by a revision of self. Yet the motive behind the narrative is not punishment but preservation of His name in you, a guarantee that your new state remains intact before the 'heathen' of the world. In your practice, assume the state of freedom and keep it by feeling it real.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I AM the LORD your God. In imagination, cast away the idols in your mind and feel the land of abundance begin to flow in you.
