Biblical Context
Pharaoh exalts himself against God's people, resisting their release; the verse highlights the clash between pride and divine will.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville's ear, this line is not a history of a king but a state of consciousness. The 'Pharaoh' here is the ego that exalts itself, resisting the liberty of the true I AM. The people represent your finer possibilities, and their release is the natural movement of awareness when you yield to the inner authority within. Exalting self appears as power over, as if you can withhold your own wholeness; yet this is a mental drama—a story your mind tells to avoid surrender to the higher will. When you align with the inner ruler who commands release, external circumstances bend: doors that seemed closed swing open, and freedom becomes your lived experience. This verse asks you to revise the thought that you are bound and to assume the end you desire as already real. By feeling the I AM as present and supreme, you displace the old exalting voice. The moment you affirm 'I AM free now' you displace the self that said, 'you will not let them go.'
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, place a hand on your heart and repeat 'I AM that I AM; I am free now.' Revise any sense of limitation by imagining the inner Pharaoh bowing to your I AM and releasing what you have prayed for.
