Exodus 4:25-26 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 4 in context

Scripture Focus

25Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
26So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
Exodus 4:25-26

Biblical Context

Zipporah takes a sharp stone and circumcises her son, casting the foreskin at Moses' feet and declaring him a 'bloody husband'; after the act, God allows Moses to go.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage, the circumcision is not a physical health act but a symbol of inner purification. The foreskin cut away represents the removal of a false identity—attachment to fear, self-will, or limited stories about who you are. Zipporah’s action declares a covenant loyalty: the I AM (your true self) requires a clean instrument to move freely. When she casts the old skin at Moses' feet, it is the gesture of surrendering the mind to the divine rule—the recognition that self and circumstance are not the barrier but the invitation to align. The bloody husband spoken to him is the old self; by naming and releasing it, the pressure on the divine plan loosens. Then, the text says, he let him go; the obstacle dissolves as you acknowledge the covenant and let the greater I AM govern. The inner event precedes any outer change: a shift in awareness brings freedom in action. So you are called to covenant loyalty in your own life: let the old self be set at the feet of awareness, and awaken to the reality that you are the I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner stance of Zipporah and symbolically circumcise a fear or limiting belief, then cast it at the feet of the I AM and declare covenant loyalty.
