Inner Tabernacle Census

Exodus 38:21 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Exodus 38 in context

Scripture Focus

21This is the sum of the tabernacle, even of the tabernacle of testimony, as it was counted, according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son to Aaron the priest.
Exodus 38:21

Biblical Context

Exodus 38:21 records the organized tally of the tabernacle’s service, counted by Moses through Ithamar for the Levites. It highlights faithful obedience to commandments and the orderly worship that sustains the holy Presence.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this line the sum is not a building but the organized state of consciousness that shelters truth. The census of the tabernacle mirrors how I am tallying the contents of my inner kingdom, ordered by a divinely given command. Moses stands as the inner lawgiver in my imagination; Ithamar, the hands that execute the chosen service, are the actions of my disciplined I AM. The Levites are the faculties within me that serve in worship—attention, faith, gratitude—each assigned to a sacred duty. When I align them according to the commandment, I am not counting bricks but aligning my inner world to carry Presence. The 'tabernacle of testimony' is my inner temple where God dwells as the I AM. The moment I acknowledge this inner census, obedience and faithfulness become felt realities, not external rituals. The law inscribes order upon my mind, and service becomes loving action that honors the Presence. In this sense, the verse invites me to conduct the census of consciousness and to dwell within the order of the I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, envision a ledger within your chest listing the inner faculties and duties you serve. Then revise any sense of dysfunction by affirming, 'I am the tabernacle; the I AM dwells here,' and feel Presence becoming real.
