Inner Tabernacle Boards
Exodus 36:20-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes making upright boards of shittim wood for the tabernacle, with specific dimensions and two tenons for joining each board.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the tabernacle as the sanctuary of your own consciousness. The boards of shittim wood are the upright states of mind you permit to stand in the temple of your awareness. The fact that they are standing up signals an inner posture of assurance that you, the I AM, remain erect in the light of God. The dimensions are not mere measurements but instructions in balance: your inner life must be proportioned—long enough to reach, broad enough to enfold—so the structure stays solid rather than wavering. Each board bears two tenons, equally distant—two fixed points by which every belief is anchored: attention and imagination, or faith and clarity. These tenons bind the boards, creating a seamless wall that holds Presence in place. When you treat your thoughts as boards under your own hand, you separate holiness from distraction, and you honor the covenant by keeping this sanctuary intact in your day-to-day. The temple you build becomes a dwelling where God, your I AM, feels welcome and present, not a projection of ego.
Practice This Now
Assume the role of the builder within you and visualize solid boards rising upright in your mind; feel two anchors—attention and imagination—locking them as you invite the Presence to dwell there.
