The Inner Covenant Seat
Exodus 25:10-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Exodus 25 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage commands the making of an ark and mercy seat, overlaid in gold, with cherubim, where God will meet and speak to Israel from above the mercy seat. The act establishes the ark as the container of divine testimony and the mercy seat as the throne of intimate communion.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the ark as the I AM made visible in your inner world. The shittim wood is your mortal frame; gild it with gold, symbolizing the purity and radiance of awareness. The rings and staves show that your state of consciousness must be carried by attention, not separated from its source. Inside lies the testimony—the inner commandments of your true nature. The mercy seat, atop the ark, is the seat of awakened attention; the cherubim at the ends, wings spread, express the harmonized faculties of desire and imagination worshiping the one Presence. Their faces look toward the mercy seat, indicating the inward focus of devotion. And there, from above the mercy seat, the I AM meets you and speaks the truths that order your life. The covenant is the loyalty of your mind to this state of awareness, a continuous alignment between belief and lived experience.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume I AM now as your unchanging reality. Envision the inner ark resting in your chest with the mercy seat above, and feel the ongoing communion as guiding intelligence accompanies your day.
